The Iowa Hawkeye football team suffered their first loss of the season to Michigan State 16-13 in the Big Ten title game in Indianapolis Saturday.

The Spartans scored with 27 seconds remaining in the game to take the lead and Iowa was unable to get into field goal range to try and tie the game before the clock ran out.

Iowa got the first touchdown in the game at the start of the 4th quarter on an 85-yard pass from C.J. Beathard to Tevaun Smith.  That made it 13-9.

Iowa is now 12-1 and falls out of the chase for a national title with their first loss.
