The Northern Iowa women’s basketball team looks to build momentum with a pair of home games this weekend. The Panthers are part of a three way tie for second place in the Missouri Valley Conference at 3-1 after a pair of road wins, including a 65-60 victory at pre season favorite Missouri State.

“We defended extremely well and got up big but what I really like about this team was they cut it to one twice in the last minute and we made stops”, said UNI coach Tanya Warren. “What a great team win.”

The Panthers will play host to Illinois State on Friday night and Indiana State on Sunday afternoon.

“If this team can continue to understand the balance we need on the offensive end and lock into tendencies on defense we have a chance to get better and better.”
