Nikki Moody filed the suit in district court saying head coach Bill Fennelly constantly demeaned, berated, harassed and discriminated against her. Moody, who is black, was a four-year starter and says the discrimination she suffered led to a hostile education environment through racial harassment.

Moody says she got no response when she complained to assistant coaches and a senior athletic administrator.

Moody played for the Cyclones from 2011-2015 and is ISU’s all-time leader in assists. Fennelly has coached at Iowa State since 1995 and has a record of 443-209 with the Cyclones.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages. An ISU spokesman says the school has not seen the lawsuit and is not commenting.
