IUBThe Iowa Utilities Board says the company building the Bakken pipeline through Iowa violated a board order.

The IUB ruled that Dakota Access engaged in construction-related activities without notifying the relevant county inspectors in violation of the Board’s March 10th order approving a permit. The Board however determined that Dakota Access should not be assessed any civil penalties. The IUB says any future violations of board orders could result in civil penalties.

The board also found that Dakota Access has not engaged in pipeline-related activities beyond staking and clearing trees with hand tools prior to the permit being issued. And in its final ruling, the IUB says Dakota Access has not filed the necessary permits from the Corps of Engineers to comply with the board’s orders. Dakota Access has until the 13th of this month to comply.
