Accidents claim the lives of a Manning woman, Kansas man

Police car lightsA west-central Iowa woman was killed in a traffic accident Monday near Manning.

A report from the Iowa State Patrol shows 62-year-old Sue Ellen Vaughan of Manning was driving a minivan that crossed the center line of a highway and crashed head-on into a pickup. Vaughan died at the scene. The driver of the pickup, 71-year-old Elroy Huisenga of Wall Lake, was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the crash report.

A Kansas motorist was killed on Interstate 35 in Iowa last night, about a dozen miles north of the Missouri border.

The Iowa State Patrol says 20-year-old Dorran Wehr of Overland Park, Kansas, was traveling southbound on I-35 in Decatur County. Wehr then crossed the median into oncoming traffic and was side-struck by another vehicle, driven 41-year-old Larry Moores of Clutier, Iowa. Wehr was transported to the Decatur County Hospital by ambulance and was pronounced dead later. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Moores was transported to the hospital as well. He was wearing a seat belt. The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
