Names released of construction worker killed near Blue Grass

September 2, 2016 By Radio Iowa Contributor

AmbulanceInvestigators have released the name of a construction worker killed Thursday morning on Highway 61 east of Blue Grass in Scott County.

Sixty-two-year-old Willie Holley of Rock Island, Illinois, a Valley Construction employee, was struck. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a Davenport hospital.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Holley has been identified as 18-year-old Sebon Reese of Davenport. Also in the vehicle was his one-year-old sister, from Davenport. Reese and the child were taken to a Davenport hospital, but no condition report was available.

Deputies say Reese was eastbound on Highway 61 when he came upon vehicles also traveling east. When he attempted to pass them on the left in the median, he lost control, crossed the eastbound lanes and left the roadway to the right, striking Holley.
