Harlan man sent to federal prison on child porn charge

October 21, 2016 By O. Kay Henderson

GavelA 55-year-old western Iowa man has been sentenced to five years in prison for having child porn on his computer.

Michael Garreans of Harlan pleaded guilty this past June to possessing child pornography. In mid-2014, Garreans posted a video of two unclothed minors to a website that was being monitored by law enforcement. Investigators later found “hundreds” of similar images on his computer.

He was sentenced Thursday to federal prison.
