One of the men involved in the Lyon County Courthouse burglary has been sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.
Forty-year-old Brandon Lyle High Pipe pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal mischief, conspiracy to commit a nonforcible felony, and third-degree burglary. The county attorney’s office says High Pipe and Luciano Sanchez forced their way into the courthouse last December and caused extensive damage during a nearly 12-hour spree. High Pipe received a ten-year sentence and two five-year sentences, to be served consecutively. He must also pay more than 36-thousand dollars in restitution to Lyon County.
The two defendants were arrested in Spearfish, South Dakota, four days after the break-in. The other defendant in the case is scheduled for a change-of-plea hearing on September 23 covering both the courthouse case and a separate alleged jail assault.
