AmbulanceThree young men were critically injured in a crash this morning in western Iowa.

The crash happened around 12:20 a.m. in Pottawattamie County. Sheriff Jeff Danker says the driver of a pickup, Jacob Johnson, and his passengers, Adam Bolton and Dacoda Schwarte, were initially transported to the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, before being flown to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. All of the men are 20 and from Atlantic.

Danker says the pickup left a roadway at a curve, went into the ditch and struck an embankment. The crash remains under investigation, but Danker says alcohol is believed to have been a factor.
