An Iowa man’s been sentenced to prison in Nebraska for repeat drunk driving. When Melvin Rice was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with blood-alcohol over the legal limit, he probably knew the drill. It wasn’t his first arrest in the three-state region, or his second. We don’t know how many times he was arrested but his conviction in Dakota County, Nebraska was the 12th time the Sioux City man’s been found guilty of driving while drunk. He was sentenced to probation but the state of Nebraska appealed that sentence, and took it all the way to the state supreme court. On Thursday, Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning announced the high court’s sentenced Rice to 20 months to five years in prison, the maximum allowed, and a thousand-dollar fine.
