Western Iowa Congressman Steve King has joined an on-line effort to combat what he says is the media’s bias about what’s happening in Iraq. King, a republican who has been to Iraq twice, is contributing material to a new website called www.untoldiraq.org. King says “it’s about time we put some good news up” about Iraq. King says he is the “Iowa voice” on the web page. Magazine publisher and two-time republican presidential candidate Steve Forbes is one of the national backers of the project. King says the webpage will post stories from soldiers in Iraq, too. King says the national media isn’t telling the full story about Iraq. King says maybe Marines renovating orphanages and soldiers renovating schools aren’t real hot news, but King says those facts should be presented to the American people. King says the national media should be comparing the situation in Iraq today with what the country was like a year ago. King is a self-described conservative who recently complained that republicans in Congress from the northeast are too liberal and pulling Congress to the left. Media executives defend their coverage of the war in Iraq
