In other action in the Legislature Thursday, the House and Senate voted to send 10-million dollars to cities and counties who’d been complaining about a 70-million dollar cut in state aid. Republican Representative Dave Heaton of Mount Pleasant says lawmakers were responding to the complaints.Heaton says some people don’t feel it’s adequate, but he says it’s the best lamwakers can do. Republican Representative Bill Schickle of Mason City says about four-million goes to counties; six-million goes to cities. Schickle says some communities may get enough to cover the salary of a police officer or fire fighter. Schickle is a former mayor.
