State investigators still haven’t determined the cause of a fish kill near Eddyville. State officials say dark, gray-black water with a strong smell has flowed into Miller Creek, near Cargill’s domestic wastewater treatment system. Cargill staff tested the stream, and found ammonia levels were high. Department of Natural Resources staff are counting the dead fish. The initial investigation found dead minnows, bullheads, suckers and sunfish. The D-N-R may level a fine if they can pinpoint where the dirty water’s coming from.
