Young Iowans who love Thomas the Tank Engine and old-timers who used to ride the rails will be chugging into Boone this weekend. The central Iowa town’s 25th annual Pufferbilly Days celebration is underway, with plenty of railroad-related competitions, like a spike-driving contest.Jane Smith, coordinator for the festival, says another popular contest will pit teams of rail handcar racers against one another.The Pufferbilly Days Parade is slated to begin at 9:30 this morning.
