Iowans will head back to the stores in the next few days to take back gifts that were the wrong size or not exactly what they wanted. Bob Brammer, a spokesman for the Iowa Attorney General’s office says don’t forget your receipt. It’ll make the whole process a lot smoother. He says there’s no legal guarantee that merchants have to take merchandise back. Brammer says retailers in Iowa are reasonable and many will probably work with you, if you ask.If you bought something with a credit card, Brammer says the plastic gives you a little more protection.Brammer says you do have the right to get merchandise that works. If you have trouble getting a refund for a broken or defective item, Brammer suggests you contact the consumer protection division of the Attorney General’s office.
