One of the handful of Iowa businesses which sell prosthesis to breast cancer survivors is holding a special promotion to help women who can’t afford the special apparel. Between Monday, November 8th and Friday the 19th, women with a wearable silicone prosthesis can turn it in and receive credit for other purchases at “Fittings Unlimited” stores in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids. The prosthesis collected will be donated to the American Cancer Society. That’s Marc Ornan, director of marketing for “Fittings Unlimited.” Ornan says some insurance polices do not provide coverage for silicone prosthesis for breast cancer survivors. The devices are not cheap, running between 285 to 400 dollars each.Ornan says they hope to collect up to 750 prosthesis for needy breast cancer survivors.
