It’s billed as the largest student-run celebration in the U-S — VEISHEAkicks off at Iowa State University today. Opening ceremonies are at 5o’clock this evening, according to Scott Desotel of Dows, a co-chair for thefestival.Desotel says this year’s theme is “Building the Future”.Students like Desotel plan and run the celebration, but universityadministration is making one big change: banning alcohol from the event.Iowa State University President, Martin Jischke.Although the change has met opposition, Jischke says student leaders arestepping up.This weekend features: a football scrimmage & a parade tomorrow, and “Tasteof VEISHEA” today and tomorrow.
