A proposal to renovate and expand Hilton Colesium is drawing opposition fromsome student groups at Iowa State University. Ames residents go to thepolls later this month to vote on an increase on the hotel-motel tax whichwould be used to increase the capacity at Hilton by 15-hundred. Campusrepublicans and democrats voted not to support the issue and will insteadwork to defeat it. I-S-U democrat president Stacy Walshire does not thinkthe addition of seats benefits anyone except the university. Walshire says even the April 27th election date is unfair to students.Walshire claims the university has been pressuring people to support theplan.
