Students are threatening violence in schools across Iowa. Since the Coloradoshootings one week ago, students have been arrested on various harassment &terrorism charges in Des Moines, Council Bluffs, Carroll, Storm Lake,Oelwein and Mason City. Law officers are taking no chances, according toMason City Police Sergeant A-J Gilbert, who says all leads are beingpursued.Sergeant Gilbert says students had better watch their actions. Gilbert sayseven statements made in jest are investigated.Last week, a Mason City 14-year-old was arrested for allegedly making a bombthreat. Also, a Mason City 11-year-old was charged with terrorism afterallegeldy threatening to shoot classmates, though no weapon was found ineither case.An eight-year-old boy was arrested in Oelwein Monday for picking a phonenumber at random and allegedly making a bomb threat. The unidentified boy was charged with delinquency in juvenile court &released to his parents’ custody. No bomb was found. The boy says lastweek’s Colorado killings were his motive.
