Teenagers across the U-S would see and hear new warnings about drinking alcohol under legislation being introduced today by Senator Tom Harkin. The Iowa democrat says his amendment would require alcohol be included in a national ad campaign that targets teen drug use. Harkin says it’s a shame only illegal drugs are included in the five-year, one-billion dollar youth ad campaign, and not alcohol. The campaign is placing ads in teen magazines and on T-V shows kids watch. Harkin says a study in 1998 found eight young Americans die in alcohol-related auto crashes every day.
