President Clinton is in Iowa today and made his first stop in Des Moines.Clinton visited a Des Moines middle school to tout his plan to spend25-billion dollars to fix up the nation’s schools. Clinton says Republicanswant to spend the federal surplus on different priorities. Clinton urged thecrowd of 600 to lobby republican members of congress who are balking at hisidea, favoring a larger tax cut instead.Clinton said America’s youth are endangered in buildings which are crumblingaround them.At this hour, Clinton is meeting with a group of Iowa farmers to discussfederal disaster aid.
