The University of Iowa is reporting a record year for fundraising.University President Mary Sue Coleman says they took intwo-hundred-59-and-a-half million dollars.That represents a 20 percent increase in funds over last year. Coleman saysit’s a record in several ways.Coleman says the record is due in part to a 59-percent increase in fundsfrom the Public Health Service and the National Science Foundation.The Public Health Service and the National Science Foundation totaled nearly133-million dollars. Coleman also credits state lawmakers’ support ofuniversity intiatives for helping draw in funds.Private industry funding for the U-of-I increased by 39-percent to nearly40-million dollars.
