Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says there were some bright spots in the loss toPenn State. He says they practiced better and competed better.Ferentz says this is a tough league to have a rebuilding year in. He saysit’s obvious the conference has some of the best teams in the nation.Ferentz says the conference is tremendously balanced and competative.Ferentz says since a season opening loss to Miami of Ohio, Northwestern hasshown improvement.Northwestern is 2-4 overall and first-year coach Randy Walker says he hasbeen impressed with the Iowa defense and the play of defensive backs MattBowen and Tarig Holman. He says the Iowa offense has made progress.He says the Hawkeyes and Wildcats are very similar in that they both areyoung teams trying to learn a new system with new coaches.
