The newest major building at Iowa State University will be broken in thisweekend. The Plant Sciences Institute Research Center is hosting itsinaugural lecture series:Karen Bolluyt is director of relations for the I-S-U Ag College. She saysthis new center is focusing on many aspects of plant research and thislecture series aims to explain some of the goals.While the term “plants” is general, Bolluyt says the research will focus notonly on agricultural plants but on many other plants, ranging from flowersto trees.I-S-U President Martin Jischke is expected to announce a major gift for theresearch center tomorrow morning. Planners expect the center to cost up to300-million dollars over the next decade, part of which will come fromprivate contributions.
