It’s beginning to sound like a broken record, but an economic survey of themidwest shows the economy continuing to shrug off inflation and chug along.Creighton University Economist Ernie Goss tracks the monthly economicfortunes of nine midwestern states. Goss says the two interest rate hikes bythe Federal Reserve Board have done little to ease inflation. He says thatcauses some concern for manufacturers who are having to pay more for thematerials to make their products.Goss says record low unemployment that’s led to labor shortages in Iowahasn’t dulled the state’s economy.Goss says there could be a slight slowdown next month as consumers buy lessfor the holiday season than they did last year.
