The board which licenses Iowa teachers plans to consider letting select college grads without a teaching degree in the classroom — on a temporary basis. Department of Education director Ted Stilwell calls the idea “reasonable” to address teacher shortage areas. Governor Vilsack says it’s o-k, too as a short-term solution to a long-term problem.
