Iowans are being warned about con artists who prey on older people who are simply trying to get their affairs in order before they die. Senator Chuck Grassley says living trust scams are exploiting the desires of senior citizens who want to leave their heirs a hassle-free estate.Grassley is chairman of the Senate Special Committee on Aging and held a hearing in Washington D-C today on these scams. He says a living trust is a legitimate and helpful tool for seniors, but people need to have them arranged by someone they already know and trust — or they may be ripped off by a con artist. He says some Iowa consumers have gone out of state for estate planning seminars only to return home with trusts that are useless under Iowa law.
