The leader of Iowa’s Democratic Party says republican presidential nominee George W. Bush isn’t “wearing well” with the American people. Recent polls show Bush and democrat Al Gore running even, a remarkable turn-around from Bush’s tremendous leads in July.Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Rob Tully says he believes in his heart that George W. Bush is the Jim Ross Lightfoot of national politics. As you may recall, Lightfoot was the 1998 republican nominee for Governor who led in public opinion polls until the very last weeks of the campaign. For example, Bush on Monday night in Des Moines said the U-S cannot let terrorists and rogue nations hold this nation “hostile” instead of hostage.Bush’s staff said he was tired, and that’s why Bush made several mistakes. Tully made his comments during taping of the Iowa Public Television program, “Iowa Press.”
