One of Iowa’s top elected republicans is scolding his own party’s presidential candidate. Senator Chuck Grassley says Texas Governor George W-Bush should not have uttered the obscene comment he made about a newspaper reporter during a weekend campaign event in a Chicago suburb.Grassley says “it’d be better if no person in the United States spoke about others in that fashion,” saying Bush should have apologized to the reporter more directly.Bush’s comment was made to his running mate, Dick Cheney, in front of an open microphone. Bush did not apologize, but did say “I regret that a private comment I made to the vice presidential candidate made it through the public airways.”
