A farm advocacy group led by the former president of the American Farm Bureau is launching a campaign to push farm issues in the November election. Iowa native Dean Kleckner is chairman of “Truth About Trade.” Kleckner says the group is focusing on trade and technology issues. He says they have six main points: trade with China, trade negotiating authority, ending unilateral sanctions, better food through technology, defeating the Kyoto Accords and stopping environmental regulations based on “junk science.”Kleckner says they want the presidential candidates to take a stand on these issues. He says they hope these Ag issues become key points in the fight for votes in the Midwest.Kleckner says they aren’t including ethanol as one of the issues because it already has broad support. Kleckner says he plans to visit all the key states in the coming weeks to help educate voters.
