A student at Pella’s Central College is still trying to let the fact soak in that she’s the new Miss Iowa U-S-A. 22-year-old Clarissa Kroese won the crown Sunday in Oskaloosa, defeating 11 other young Iowa women in personality interviews, swimwear and evening gown competitions. The next hurdle for Kroese is the Miss U-S-A Pageant in February before a national T-V audience.The next several months will be very busy for Kroese, between it being her senior year in college and making public appearances. However the Miss U-S-A pageant turns out, Kroese is set to graduate from Central next year. The Pella native plans to attend medical school.Also, 17-year-old Ashley Hanson of Spencer won the Miss Iowa Teen U-S-A competition over the weekend.
