Tonight’s presidential debate will feature -only- Republican candidate George W-Bush and Democrat candidate Al Gore, which is just fine with Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley. He says other candidates who don’t have nearly as much public support should not be allowed to have the spotlight.Iowa Senator Tom Harkin says the Green Party’s Ralph Nader and Pat Buchanan of the Reform Party should be there, too, but Grassley disagrees. Grassley says allowing in other, less-popular candidates would unfairly detract from the front-runners.Neither Nader nor Buchanan have the required 15-percent support in public opinion polls to qualify for the debate. Nader’s highest rank is on a CNN/USA Today poll with four percent. Buchanan has one-percent support in virtually all polls.
