The Iowa State Patrol is teaming up with a trucking company to improve the training of the Patrol’s drug dogs. Sergeant Robert Hansen says Barr-Nunn trucking of Granger is letting the patrol use some of its tractor-trailers for training.Hansen says the patrol’s seven dogs need to be trained to sniff out contraband in a variety of vehicles. He says it’s easier to find cars to use for training than it is a “big rig.”Hansen says the size of the trucks make them a good place to stash drugs and other contraband. The truck training begins next week in Granger.
