The grandson of India’s Mahatma Gandhi will be in Des Moines Monday to meet with the Iowa Interfaith Alliance. Arun Gandhi says conflicts around the globe have been spawned by “politics without principles”. He says the conflicts involve religion, economics and other issues.He says it’s no longer “politics for the people.” Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violent protests helped gain India’s independence.Gandhi’s grandson says world leaders made a mistake after World War II when they divided Palestine on the basis of religion.Gandhi says countries divided on the basis of religion are “caldrons of conflict.”Gandhi was in Washington and Oregon this past week, conducting seminars on non-violence. He speaks Monday evening in Des Moines at a banquet at Grace United Methodist Church.
