The European Union’s top ag official admits “Mad Cow” and “foot and mouth” diseases have shaken consumer confidence in meat. European Union Commissioner for Agriculture Dr. Franz Fischler says there’s no reason, however, not to eat meat in Europe. He says the disease is under control.Fischler says he and other European officials must take steps to address consumer concerns.Fischler visited Iowa State University research facilities on Friday and toured a few Iowa farms on Saturday.
