Des Moines police have a man in custody who didn’t want to get a ticket this morning. Officer Tony Gomez was doing a radar sweep on the city’s east side, in response to citizen complaints about speeding in the area. When he saw a driver doing 48 in a 30-mile-an-hour zone, Gomez gave chase. Des Monies Police information officer Sergeant Kelly Willis says the man took off. Nobody was hurt in the brief high-speed chase, but the ticket’s now for eluding, running a stoplight and four stop signs, no seatbelt, no insurance, no license, and going more than 80 in the 35-mile-an-hour zone.
