Authorities have now identified the victim in a fatal fire in northeast Iowa. The Clayton County Sheriff’s office thinks it’s the body of 35-year-old Richard Bond. An autopsy reportedly shows Bond died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officials say they think Bond set his house near Colesburg on fire. Authorities were called out at six Monday night to the home. While they were putting out the fire, they found the body. Officials say positive I-D is pending a look at dental records. The incident remains under investigation.
