Over 900 state jobs will be affected by the latest round of state budget cuts. About 160 state employees will be laid-off. Three-hundred-50 open jobs will NOT be filled, and when another 400 state workers retire over the next year, no one will be hired to replace them. In a prepared statement, Governor Tom Vilsack said state agencies will do the best they can with the cards that have been dealt, but the Governor said the budget cuts are very deep and Iowans will see a reduction in some state services.
