Two Iowa universities rank high in magazine survey

Two of Iowa’s public universities are considered “best buys” according to a national survey. Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa are listed on the Kaplan/Newsweek survey of “schools that offer the best value for your tuition dollar.”Joyce Morrow is associate director of financial aid at U-N-I, where the annual tuition is about three thousand dollars. She says the survey results are a nice boost for the Cedar Falls institution.The list includes 75 “best value” colleges and universities nationwide and is just an alphabetical list of the top 75 named — they are not ranked one through 75. Morrow says her office is always busy helping students attain a higher education.The University of Iowa was among 60 colleges and universities named to the list of schools which “most support diversity.” Kaplan/Newsweek releases nine annual college surveys, including hidden treasures, best career services, most competitive and “hot and trendy” colleges. No Iowa schools made any of the other lists.
