Newton-based appliance giant Maytag is planning to add 200 more workers. Maytag spokesman James Powell says the demand for the company’s energy efficient washers and driers is allowing them to add the new workers September 10th. Powell says industry-wide sales of washers and driers are down, but the demand remains strong for Maytag.Powell says they new workers will operate in a new workspace that was recently expanded.Maytag currently has around 35-hundred employees. That’s not the only job news at Maytag. Powell says the company’s recently purchased Amana refrigeration division is looking to hire an additional 100 workers to increase production of a new line of refrigerators.
