Despite a three-game winning streak in the series and coming off their best season in school history Iowa State enters the 49th meeting with Iowa as an underdog. The Hawkeyes have been established as a three-point favorite and Cyclone coach Dan McCarney says it is not a big surprise. He says the Cyclones have been underestimated in each of the seven years he’s been coach..McCarney says he won’t make a big deal of their underdog status but is sure the players are aware of it.McCarney says the Hawkeyes have made strides under third-year coach Kirk Ferentz.Cyclone quarterback Seneca Wallace says this matchup provides motivation no matter who the favorite is.Wallace was taken out early in the third quarter and the Cyclones did not throw many passes against U-N-I but Wallace feels he got enough experience for this week’s game.
