Nominations are now being taken for Iowa’s Small Business Person of the Year. Dave Lentell, spokesman for the Small Business Administration office in Des Moines, says any of the thousands of small merchants in Iowa could qualify for the annual honor.Lentell says awards will also be given to small business leaders in categories including: minorities, veterans, women and young entrepreneurs. He says there’s another award honoring businesses that have come back from the brink called the “Phoenix” award.Lentell says there are 200-thousand businesses in Iowa and at least 98-percent of them are considered “small” businesses.Nominations will be accepted through November 13th.
