Attacks spur flag sales

Over the past couple days, the nation’s gone through stages of shock, grief, and other reaction to attacks in New York and Washington. Patriotism is apparently one of the reactions, as a Fort Dodge flag company is being flooded with orders.He says it’s kinda like during Desert Storm, and all of a sudden this morning phones started ringing at 8:00 AM. Kirk Van Gundy’s mail-order company takes calls from all over the country and he says the orders seem to be strongest on the East Coast, though of course they got an earlier start because of their time zone. Van Gundy says the company will be busy for several weeks. He says long-term demand is hard to predict. The Fort Dodge company sells flags of all sizes, from cemetery decorations to giant-sized Stars and Stripes.
