A Civil War veteran from southeast Iowa and a pioneer wife are among the “ghosts” who will be resurrected to teach regional history this weekend. A cemetery walk is being staged in Danville’s Blakeway Cemetery, just west of Burlington.Lynn Jacobsen is an English and theater teacher at Danville High School. He and his wife, who teaches vocal music at the school, are coordinating the 7th annual cemetery walk. Jacobsen says Halloween may be coming, but this event isn’t something that will frighten anyone, it’s an educational event designed to raise interest in local history.People on the tour will be guided by torch-bearing students in period costumes. Jacobsen says Blakeway Cemetery is one of the earliest pioneer graveyards in the state, with burials dating back to the early 19th century. The tours will be leaving from Danville High at 5, 6, 7 and 8 p-m on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are six dollars.
