Around 500 students from the Keokuk Middle School will be out of class until Wednesday after a fire damaged their building yesterday. Keokuk Schools Superintendent Jane Babcock says investigators have confirmed suspicions that the fire was intentionally set, but they haven’t determined how the fire was set, but do say it is a case of arson. Babcock says they still haven’t put a dollar figure on the damage. She says the good news out of this whole situation is that several people have stepped forward and offered space to be used for classes. She says they’re also thankful that no one was hurt in the fire. Babcock says students will go back to class on Wednesday.
