Iowa’s largest energy company is continuing a program this year that helps low-income Iowans pay their heating bills. MidAmerican Energy spokesman Kevin Waetke explains the “I-Care” program lets the company’s customers make donations to a fund that helps low-income Iowans pay their heating bills. While temperatures this winter have been much warmer than last year, Waetke says the need is still there. He says heating bills aren’t as high as they were last year, but he says there’s a year-round need for help.Waetke says the program offers customers several ways to get involved.Customers can add extra money to their bill that’s earmarked for the program, make a lump sum payment, or sign up for a monthly pledge. Waetke says the donations to the program are tax deductible.
