The Iowa Farm Bureau’s new president says farmers will be driven out of business if the Iowa Legislature enacts new rules for livestock operations.Iowa Farm Bureau president Craig Lang of Brooklyn says legislators should use “sound science” not personal preference when developing more regulations for hog, cattle and poultry operations. Lang says existing rules should be enforced before new ones are passed.As Lang spoke at a statehouse news conference today, he stood in front of a banner that read “Iowa Can’t Afford to Lose More Farmers.” Lang says Iowans in rural communities are paying close attention to what is happening in Des Moines as those actions will hold the key to their success or demise.Lang was elected Farm Bureau president a month and a half ago.
