Iowans who plan to do any flying this weekend, and from now on, should be aware of yet another new security initiative that began today. Airlines have started what’s called “positive bag matching.” Des Moines International Airport spokesman Michael Audino explains every piece of luggage is loaded aboard a plane, every passenger then boards, the lists are compared and if there are any bags that don’t correspond to passengers, those bags are removed. He says the bag matching should be transparent for passengers and the process isn’t causing delays. The airlines stress passengers still need to arrive at the airport two hours before their flight time.
