A few Iowa lawmen are in Utah, providing security at the Olympics. LeMars police captain Dennis Folkema is assigned to the downtown Ice Center in Salt Lake City, where he’s checking I-Ds and taking tickets.Folkema says he’s picking up safety ideas, here and there, that he’ll bring back home. He says the organization is the key thing that can be brought back and used for events in Iowa.West Branch Police Chief Dan Knight and Donnellson Police Chief Rod Russell are also in Salt Lake. There are six security workers for every athlete at the Games.
