You’d better have genuine American greenbacks if you pay taxes or traffic tickets in Jefferson County, Iowa. The Jefferson County Board of Supervisors has voted to accept only currency that’s backed by the U-S Government. The action comes as folks in Vedic City, just northwest of Fairfield in Jefferson County, have started circulating the Raam, a form of currency used by followers of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Vedic City officials recently sent a letter to businesses in Jefferson County, urging them to accept the Raam to promote peace and economic stability. The Raam, which is made in Europe, is equal to 10 U-S dollars.
